Candy A. has lived her entire life in Chicago – she was raised there herself, and has raised her own family too – but, Chicago being what it is (one of the most culturally diverse cities in the USA), she is also bilingual in English and Spanish, proficient in Italian, and has traveled extensively around the world! Before starting to work as a destination consultant in 2004, she worked in the local hospitality industry and continues that involvement through her very active participation in several local organizations, including the International Club in Chicago and the Northbrook Newcomers Club (where she has served on the Board for several years).

Departure

Sooner or later, the life of an international transferee comes "full circle" and he/she must leave again, for home, or an assignment at another destination. The destination consultant can provide Departure support:

• Lease: Review lease and coordinate return of security deposit. Set walk-through date. Accompany at walk-through.

• Utilities: Arrange disconnect dates and final billing with utility providers.

• Other contracts: Discuss and help arrange termination of bank, insurance, newspaper, garden maintenance, furniture rental and other agreements.

• Cars: Assist/advise on termination of car rental/lease arrangements; car registration; sale or disposal of cars.

• Records: Assist/advise re obtaining school and medical records.

• Mail: Assist/advise re mail forwarding; cancellation of subscriptions.
