A retired executive in the publishing and broadcast industries, Barbara V enjoys sharing the splendors of her native Seattle with transferees from around the world. She has worked as a destination consultant since 2001, and appreciates the diversity of each new assignment. Thanks to extensive international travel in Asia, Europe, South America and the Arctic region she knows first-hand the experience of a sudden immersion in an unfamiliar culture. She easily empathizes with new arrivals, and is eager to facilitate their smooth transition to life in the United States. |

Once a transferee has a US non-immigrant working visa, and has arrived in the US, the Full Circle consultant can help with the following important US documentary requirements.
• Social Security application. This is a most important process, upon which other documentation - a bank account and a drivers license, for example - often depends. Applications must be made personally at a Social Security Administration (a Federal Agency) office. There are substantial documentary requirements. Qualified spouses can also be assisted.
• Bank Checking Account. Opening a US bank account is another near-essential step, if the transferee expects to be paid, and to make payments locally. The Full Circle consultant can also advise on credit issues in the US, and introduce transferees to special programs made available for Full Circle assignees by CitiBank and HSBC.
• Driver's License application. The Full Circle consultant can advise on the procedures, supply driver manuals and application forms and, where time permits, accompany transferees and their spouses through the several processes involved.
• Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN). The US Internal Revenue Service (IRS - a Federal Agency) requires all foreign citizens in the US who do not have a Social Security number (i.e. spouses initially, and children) to apply for ITINs when they send in their first US tax return (15 April deadline). The Full Circle consultant can advise families on the application process.
• ReloBlogger, a weblog for international human resource and relocation professionals, provides relevant and up-to-date information about changes in U.S. documentation requirements for international transferees, among other topics.
