About the producer
In 2006, during a backpacking trip through the Olympic Peninsula's Enchanted Valley, John Bannerman suddenly called out, "Let's call it Wilderness Poets!" That moment of inspiration launched a journey with partner Mika Kakizaki to seek out rare, nourishing foods that feed both body and spirit. From their early Portland days grinding micro-batch nut butters in borrowed kitchens to finding creative solitude at the base of Mount St. Helens, their small company has wandered like true poets, always searching for the perfect ingredient.
Now nestled in Ashland, Ore., near towering redwoods and the southern coast, they still craft each creation in small batches and with careful attention. Their wanderings take them to groves in California, where they build lasting relationships with farmers who share their devotion to pure, organic ingredients that inspire mindful, healthy living one spoonful at a time.
