Chocolate Dipped Satsuma Slices

These yummy little snacks will satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt. A little bit sweet, a little bit salty, and a tiny bit of crunch for texture.

INGREDIENTS

5-6 Satsuma mandarin oranges (*use peels to candy)

½ - ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate or dark chocolate chips

1 teaspoon coarse sea salt

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.  

Carefully wash then peel the mandarin oranges. See candied mandarin peels for a delicious snack* 

Remove all the pith and stray veins from the outside of the slices. Set slices aside on dry paper towels.  

In a microwave- using a microwave safe bowl – microwave the chocolate chips 15 seconds at a time, stirring the chips each time until melted and smooth. 

OR

In a double boiler - Melt chocolate chips on low heat until melted and smooth, using a spatula to stir. About 5 minutes.

Dip each slice halfway into the melted chocolate and place on prepared baking sheet.  Sprinkle with salt and repeat until all slices are evenly coated.  Refrigerate for 10 minutes or until chocolate has hardened.

*Can be kept in an airtight container or storage bag in refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
