Full Circle Faces: Sally Trocano, Packing Line Supervisor
What brought you to Full Circle?
Sally: Originally, it was just the need for a job, but what keeps me now are the people; my coworkers and the Members who depend on us to provide safe and healthy food.
How does Full Circle’s Mission speak to you?
Sally: I’ve learned so much working for Full Circle, about organics, sustainability and farming, and “No Farms-No Food” It’s led to total respect for Farmers, for their relentless work and the joy they bring to it. Seeing the field hands always so happy is, for me, a reminder of the joy to be found in honest work, and how lucky we are to do work that benefits humans, and protects the land. Ten months ago, I became a Grandma, so the need for healthy food sources seems even more immediate.
Sally: I love to cook and to Garden. I grow both flowers and veggies, and try to bring in juice and treats for my team on a regular basis. This week it was breakfast burritos. I am also hoping to start Ukulele classes to be able to sing and play with my grandson.
Favorite Food Memory?
Sally: Cooking Fried Chicken with my namesake, Great-Grandmother Sally, who raised longhorn Cattle on a ranch in Texas. I was only about four, and she really let me help.
Favorite Full Circle Grown veggies?
Sally: Beets, just steamed and served with lots of butter, salt and pepper. Carrots, juiced or cooked with butter and orange juice, and Heirloom lettuces in salads or as a table bouquet.
Sally: Eggs. I’d eat eggs for every meal if I could, but instead settle for the occasional fried egg sandwich with ham, mayo and cheese.
What would you like to communicate to Full Circle Members?
Sally: I’d say it’s how dedicated and concerned the Full Circle Staff is. Everyone works really hard, and recognizes the trust Members are placing in us to grow and source healthy food. We know what a difference it makes in the lives of everyday people, especially our Members in Alaska who haven’t as many options. It’s a job I’m proud to do.
