A Dozen Cousins was founded by Ibraheem Basir in 2019. Ibraheem grew up in a big family, and his eldest daughter being the 12th cousin, inspired him to name his company A Dozen Cousins. Ibraheem wanted it to be easier for customers to have authentic cultural recipes made with wholesome ingredients. Their food is created from traditional Black and Latino recipes from throughout the Americas. These recipes respect and take influence from the connected and woven subculture of African and Spanish indigenous people. To maintain healthy foods, they avoid GMO and artificial flavors, and value making them accessible to people of all backgrounds. A Dozen Cousins gives back to the community every year with an annual grant to help eliminate socioeconomic health disparities.
