About the producer
It all began in 1920 when Ben Smith began peddling milk to his neighbors for some extra cash. Little did he know that his one-cow operation would eventually become one of the largest independent dairies in the region. Though a lot has changed since their humble beginnings, one thing hasn’t changed: their commitment to continuing and honoring the legacy of their founder by providing the freshest local milk to our neighbors and friends around the region. In 2019, Smith Brothers Farms acquired Alpenrose Dairy, bringing together two century-old, family dairies with historical ties to their communities and beloved, well-established brands.
Smith Brothers is proud to say that they are a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated company, with extended family members involved at every level, including Ben’s great-grandson leading the business.
