Dried strawberries are so sweet and versatile to use. Use them in a salad, in your favorite granola and especially over ice cream.
INSTRUCTIONS
Shop our: sugar, organic produce farm boxes
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Wash and remove the stems, then slice the strawberries in half. Place them in a bowl with the lemon juice and sugar. Toss them until they are well coated. Let them sit until the strawberries have released their natural juices, about 20-25 minutes.
Once the juices have released, pour the juice out and save it for stirring into sparkling water or salad dressing. Lay the strawberries, cut-side up, on the baking sheet. Space the strawberries out so they don’t stick together.
Place them into the oven and slowly dry them for 2 hours on one side. Take them out, flip, and bake for another 2 hours. Check the strawberries every hour to make sure they are not getting overcooked. You may need to flip them once more to ensure they are dried out.
Remove them from the oven, keeping in mind they will get crispier as they cool.
Eat plain as a snack, chop and mix into your favorite granola or serve over ice cream.
Store the strawberries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
